The Counseling Compact is an interstate agreement that allows licensed professional counselors (LPCs) to practice across multiple member states under a single compact privilege — without obtaining a full license in each state. It's a major shift for the profession, particularly for telehealth providers and LPCs who see clients in multiple states.
As of 2026, six states are fully live and issuing compact privileges: Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, and Ohio.
